Fairline Squadron 58 Master Bedroom Refit
We were commissioned to undertake a refit of the master bedroom for a client who was very pleased with the exterior cushions we crafted for his Fairline Squadron 58. Built in 2001, this yacht shares a common issue with many boats of that era: the upholstery on the walls and ceiling starts to sag or detach over time. The foam underneath the fabric has deteriorated and disintegrated. The fabric itself becomes sticky and unpleasant to the touch. Once this degradation process begins, you might temporarily fix the problem by pulling the material tight with a staple gun. Unforntunately, soon the rest will start to sag and detach as well. A complete refit is the only effective method to fully restore the space. Following a thorough refit, you not only resolve these issues but essentially transform the master bedroom into a brand-new, revitalized space.
Process
The majority of panels on a Fairline Squadron are secured with Velcro. However, in some cases, previous repair work has been done, and the panels have been glued in place. Additionally, the wardrobes were upholstered with the same fabric, which left residue on clothing.
During the complete refit process, we carefully remove all panels, addressing any old adhesive or Velcro as needed.
If the old panels were glued and damaged during removal or if they were blackened by moisture, they were all replaced with new plywood.
The wardrobes are also refitted with new fabrics, eliminating the issue of residue and making them look as good as new.
This thorough approach ensures a pristine and fully functional master bedroom and wardrobes.
